Monster Jam Reading Club Results

Sadly, we did not win the Monster Truck visit here at our library. We actually finished in a respectable third place. However, we are so proud of all the reading that you did. You kept up your reading skills over winter break and for that
we give you a round of applause.

We are so excited about this summer's reading club that we are currently planning for
you and your families. It is going to be bigger and better than ever before. We look forward to all the fun events we have in mind for you as well as the cool prizes you can win week after week. But ssssshhh! We're not giving away all our secrets! You just have to join in all the fun and see!

Northside Family Reading Night

On January 10th, Northside Elementary School held their Family Reading Night here in the Farmingdale Public Library. It was a huge success! Over 150 people attended including some teachers and the Principal and Assistant Principal, Mrs. Garavuso and Mrs. Andersen. Families came in their pajamas and brought pillows and sleeping bags, as well as some of their favorite
books to share. The teachers held a trivia game in which children who answered the questions
correctly won books and stuffed animals. It was a fun filled event and one we hope to continue next year! Check out our photo montage!

American Library Association's Great Websites for Kids!

Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC) and the American Library Association (ALA) have created a wonderful website for children. It contains links to the following subject areas:

Animals, The Arts, History & Biography, Literature & Language, Sciences, Reference Desk, Mathematics and Computers, and Social Sciences.

It also contains sites for parents, caregivers, teachers, and others.

Once you click on a subject area, you will see a key that indicates the appropriateness of each website. The key is a colored pencil icon. For example, a red pencil with the letter E means that website is appropriate for Elementary aged youth.
