It's that time again and we are super pumped and excited to be bringing you an awesome summer reading club this year. The theme this summer is "Every Hero has a Story" for those children Birth - entering 5th grade and "Unmasked!" for those entering 6th grade - 12th. We have planned all kinds of programs celebrating superheroes such as Batman and Captain Underpants and heroes of the furry kind with 4 feet. Come in to the Children's Room and pick up a packet on June 22nd and join us on June 29th for a carnival in the afternoon and a great family show in the evening.Read your books, log what you've read, and come in beginning June 29th to receive a prize. Each year, 12,500 school children from different regions of the United States read newly published children's and young adults' trade books and vote for the ones they like best. These Children's Choices, selected from more than 600 tiltes, can be counted on as books children really enjoy reading. This list, a project of a joint committee supported by the International Literacy Association (ILA) and the Children's Book Council (CBC), is designed for use not only by teachers, librarians, administrators, and booksellers, but also by parents, grandparents, caregivers, and everyone else who wishes to encourage young people to read for pleasure. Pharrell Williams is spreading his special brand of joy in a new way: a children's book. The Grammy winner has turned his hit "Happy" (which was featured in Despicable Me 2 and on Williams' lauded album G I R L) into a picture book. "I'm so proud of my collaboration with Penguin and to be able to share my book Happy! with all the young readers out there," Williams said about the project, which will be released Oct. 6. "I love what I do and am grateful to all the people who felt that 'Happy' resonated with them. My hope is that this book inspires a child's imagination and creativity and that it teaches the importance of being happy and true to yourself."
