Fizz Boom Read!


Our fabulous summer reading program is fast approaching and we can't wait for all of you to register and join us for 8 weeks of fun, educational programs and events. The theme for 2014 is Fizz, Boom, Read and as you have probably guessed, there will be lots of hands-on science activities for you to enjoy.  We have planned some really cool programs such as Star Lab, Awesome Astronauts, Man in the Moon, Roaring Rockets and Blast off with Stories and that's just week one!

Come into the Children's Room and pick up your summer reading program packet on Monday, June 23rd or after. Register online and start reading. You can start logging your reading online beginning Saturday, June 28th.

Our kickoff is Saturday, June 28th, starting at 9:30am. We have a show for 2 years old through entering Grade 2 called the Jungle Jam puppet show that continues until  10:00 am. Our carnival for all ages begins at 10:30am outside in the reading garden and front lawn. At 12:30 pm join us in the Children's playroom for Build a Robot- let's see who can build the most interesting robot!

Just because school is out doesn't mean you stop learning! Keep up your reading skills and have some fun this summer at the Farmingdale Public Library!

3 Questions with children's author Greg Foley

Author Greg Foley answers three questions he has always wanted to be asked. I’ve got a great idea for a children’s book – What should I do next?  Like many children’s authors, this is something I get asked all the time. My advice to anyone who wants to write children’s books, is to start with a children’s writing workshop. Doesn’t matter if it’s a weekend course, online or a night class (my fav).
