The five finalists in each of the 3 categories for the 11th Annual Children’s and Teen Choice Book Awards, the only national books awards voted on solely by children and teens, are:

Check out the teen blog for the Teen Book of the Year finalists!

The children’s award finalists were chosen in pre-voting by thousands of children from different regions of the U.S., with supervision by the International Literacy Association. Teens nominated their favorite books of the year at TeenReads.com, and their top picks are the Teen Choice Book Award finalists. Voting for the awards will be open online at EveryChildaReader.net/vote from March 1 - May 6, 2018. Teachers, librarians, and booksellers can also collect group or classroom votes to enter online. The winning authors and illustrators will be announced on May 30 at a special ceremony at BookExpo.

3 Questions with children's author Greg Foley

Author Greg Foley answers three questions he has always wanted to be asked. I’ve got a great idea for a children’s book – What should I do next?  Like many children’s authors, this is something I get asked all the time. My advice to anyone who wants to write children’s books, is to start with a children’s writing workshop. Doesn’t matter if it’s a weekend course, online or a night class (my fav). It’s where I started, learning the most basic rules and practices. One of the best tips I received was not to share my work with friends and family, because you’ll just get compliments.
